Authors Hua-Lei Yin (Nanjing University, China) and Wei Li (University of Science & Technology, Hefei, China) will present their works, with Yin presenting "Experimental Quantum Communication Overcomes the Rate-Loss Limit without Global Phase Tracking" and Li presenting "Twin-Field Quantum Key Distribution without Phase Locking." Following their presentation, both authors will participate in a Q&A session with participants. In "Experimental Quantum Communication Overcomes the Rate-Loss Limit without Global Phase Tracking," Yin and co-authors overcame the limits of TF-QKD to enable long distance quantum communication. Implementation requires complex global phase tracking and strong phase references that not only add to noise but also reduce the duty cycle for quantum transmission; using an innovative but simpler measurement-device-independent QKD, the team resolved these issues to achieve even higher SKRs than TF-QKD. In "Twin-Field Quantum Key Distribution without Phase Locking," Li and colleagues found an approach to recover the single-photon interference pattern and realize TF-QKD without phase locking. By separating the communication time into reference frames and quantum frames, the reference frames serve as a flexible scheme for establishing a global phase reference. By generating a repeaterlike key rate scaling with a SKR of 34 times higher than the previous capacity, researchers uncovered a scalable and practical solution to TF-QKD, an important step towards broader applications.
