Dear researcher,
With the gratifying news of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to attosecond technology still fresh in our minds, we are very pleased to present a collection of recent papers published in Physical Review X (PRX) dedicated to laser-driven generation, control, and imaging of electronic dynamics in matter on ultrafast timescales ranging from femtoseconds to attoseconds and beyond.
We had begun, more than two years ago, to identify and invite papers to be considered for publication in the Ultrafast Imaging of Coherent Electron Dynamics collection according to PRX's rigorous reviewing standards. Some of the papers used attosecond technology and attosecond spectroscopy as the necessary tools, and some also developed new conceptual approaches for expanding the attosecond tool box. We now also see the collection as a fitting tribute to the Nobel-Prize-winning technology.
