Dear Colleague, The Physical Review Journal Club returns February 28 with an exclusive conversation with author Sanjiv Gunasekera discussing their recently published Physical Review Fluids paper "Mitigation of the turbulence within an arteriovenous fistula with a stent implantation." In the paper, the authors reveal a significant decrease in turbulence within a specific surgical connection between an artery and a vein called an arteriovenous fistula when a stent is implanted, thereby providing a level of understanding underpinning the success of the treatment strategy (in this patient case) from a fluid dynamic perspective. Gunasekera will provide a short presentation of their results followed by a live question-and-answer session where all attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the research. When: February 28, 2023 3:00 a.m. EST The paper under discussion: Mitigation of the turbulence within an arteriovenous fistula with a stent implantation Sanjiv Gunasekera, Tracie Barber, Olivia Ng, Shannon Thomas, Ramon Varcoe, and Charitha de Silva Phys. Rev. Fluids 7, 123101 | The session will be moderated by: Chao Sun, Tsinghua University and PRFluids board member The Physical Review Journal Club events are live, interactive events allowing early-career scientists to discuss the latest published advances in physics with leaders in the field. There will be a short presentation, followed by an interactive session where the participating author will answer your questions. This is a rare opportunity to engage with the authors of important research developments in an "Ask Me Anything" format. During this interactive portion of the Journal Club, participants will be allowed to have their camera and microphone on and are encouraged to join in open discussion with the presenters. Please feel free to share this information with your institution and colleagues. Registration is free, and a video recording will be distributed to all registrants at the conclusion of the event. | | | |
